Taipower Yilan Donshan Energy Storage Project
Implemented Solution
To strengthen grid resilience and support renewable energy integration, Taipower constructed an energy storage system at the Dongshan Extra High Voltage Substation in Yilan. This self-developed project includes 23 energy storage containers, making it Taipower’s fourth large-scale energy storage base. The system adopts Enhanced Dynamic Regulation (E-dReg) and Function of Periodic Power Modulation (FPPM) technologies, enabling rapid power response, frequency and voltage stabilization, and peak load management. In terms of safety, the system complies with IEC international standards for both operational safety and cybersecurity, ensuring zero-risk operation. This project not only enhances power supply stability but also aligns with the government’s 2025 target of 1,500 MW of installed energy storage capacity, demonstrating Taipower’s active commitment to energy transition and net-zero carbon goals.
