Taipower Yilan Donshan Energy Storage Project

Implemented Solution
To strengthen grid resilience and support renewable energy integration, Taipower constructed an energy storage system at the Dongshan Extra High Voltage Substation in Yilan.

This self-developed project includes 23 energy storage containers, making it Taipower’s fourth large-scale energy storage base.

The system adopts Enhanced Dynamic Regulation (E-dReg) and Function of Periodic Power Modulation (FPPM) technologies, enabling rapid power response, frequency and voltage stabilization, and peak load management. In terms of safety, the system complies with IEC international standards for both operational safety and cybersecurity, ensuring zero-risk operation.

This project not only enhances power supply stability but also aligns with the government’s 2025 target of 1,500 MW of installed energy storage capacity, demonstrating Taipower’s active commitment to energy transition and net-zero carbon goals.

Challenges

Challenges

In this project, ICP successfully secured the PowerSCADA system contract, backed by its expertise in IEC 61850 communication protocols and RTU engineering.

Over the years, ICP has been deeply involved in Taipower substation automation and integration projects and has expanded its capabilities to private large-scale energy storage, solar, and offshore wind substation systems, building strong hands-on experience and technical competence.

ICP specializes in high-complexity, high-precision power automation engineering. Through continuous team training and technical innovation, the company has developed a comprehensive one-stop integration capability. Its complete service ecosystem covers electrical control design, protective relay configuration, PowerSCADA system integration, and on-site fiber-optic network engineering, providing stable, reliable, and high-efficiency professional support for clients.

This project not only highlights ICP’s technical leadership within the Taipower domain but also shows its active role and achievements in private-sector renewable energy projects, contributing to Taiwan’s ongoing energy transition and grid resilience.
